Behavior & Husbandry
Gem Tangs are active swimmers that require ample open swimming space combined with mature rockwork for grazing and security. They are constantly on the move throughout the aquarium and quickly become a focal point due to their unique appearance and confident behavior.
Like most tangs, they can become territorial toward other tangs, particularly those with similar body shapes. In larger aquariums with proper aquascaping, they generally integrate well with a wide variety of reef-safe fish.
Providing excellent water quality, strong flow, and a mature environment will help ensure long-term success.
